The 2021 Le Stagiaire Pinot Noir is an equal split of Merricks and Balnarring fruit. The vines are rooted in grey loams and red ferrosols, with an average age of 25 years. Aged for 10 months on lees on concrete and large format barrels, unfined and unfiltered, with a complex balance of ripe and pure Pinot fruit. Aromatic on the nose with dark cherries and poached plums. Fragrant, silky and powerfully seductive.
Garagiste by Barnaby Flanders and Cam Marshall, named in honour of the ‘garage’ vitners of Bordeaux who broke away from the rigid trations, focuses on producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that reflects the subtleties of the Mornington Peninsula’s sub-regions.
