Garagiste ‘Cotier’ Riesling 2018

$60.00

Unlike a classic Riesling wine, the acidity gives the wine direction. Clean citrus and yellow plums on the nose and vibrant, complex and savoury for a Riesling. Made from grapes from Red Hill and 100% whole-bunch fermentation for 23 days, matured for 9 months and bottled unfined with minimal sulphur. Unique in its own sense and delicious.

Brilliant drink. Shaped with light acidity, bright and wild flavours, red berries, kirsch-like fruitiness then a long trail of botanical herb and spice to finish with those fine, firm tannins drawing things long. Has that silky turn of high drinkability too. Wonderful, charisma-packed little red.

Delinquente Tuff Nut 2021

$45.00

Super aromatic and light this one. Marked by notes of peaches & cream, meadow flowers and yellow apple. Fizz is subtle, drinks almost like a dessert white wine, but one that is refreshing, not heavy and sticky. If you were sitting on a rooftop with friends and barbecuing, you could smash through a case of this without a single blink. We're not even joking.

Delinquente Screaming Betty 2021

$50.00

Pale lemon green in the glass, almost water-like. Smells exactly like those everyday Vermentinos you get in Italy for peanuts - white flowers, green apple, pear. Nothing complex and not meant to be. Very low alcohol, medium acid, medium finish. Interesting and drinkable, poolside wine.

Delinquente Roxanne the Razor 2021

$45.00

Medium ruby in the glass. Shows a nose that's an entirely different ballgame compared to the 2020. It really has that vermouth negroni profile with a bit of funk to it. High acidity, but not unbalanced. Just a lick of grippy tannins. Medium-bodied with a medium finish. To be appreciated straight away.

South by Southwest Sangiovese 2020

$49.00

Light ruby in the glass. Some herbaceousness hits at first, but more cherry, raspberry and plum swim to the surface. Tightly-knit on the palate with pronounced dark berry flavours, a lot of spicy bitterness, a little leather and the slightest hint of savoury old oak flavours. An explosion of acidity and just a brush of tannins. Definitely a no-nonsense Sangiovese, in dire need of hearty food.

Tomfoolery Trouble & Strife 2021

$52.00

Light salmon pink in the glass. Pleasant, sort of sweet aromatics - cranberry, candied cherry, raspberry. Very fruit-driven on the palate as well. Simple, refreshing, light. Alcohol is much lighter compared to the 2019 vintage, giving way to a lot more acidity. Great wine, works well at the price.

Amato Vino Rosso 2020

$55.00

Always good, the Primitivo here shining full on. Lots of fruit-forward character accompanied by a bit of spice in the background. The palate is showing high acid with a brush of ripe tannins. Approachable now, but will go strong for 2-3 more years if you decide to lay it down in your cellar. You have to love how Amato makes these young wines drinkable straight off the bat, something that’s hard to find with old school winemakers nowadays.

Tomfoolery ‘Young Blood’ Grenache 2020

$55.00

If you're a fan of Rioja and their early 'Joven' releases, you're in for a real treat. Inspired by Ben Chipman's travels across Europe, where fellow backpackers drank solely out of carafes, this Grenache breathes life into a category known mostly for heavy-duty wines. Fresh, fragrant, uncomplicated.

Frederick Stevenson Riesling 2021

$65.00

A most proper varietal expression on this Riesling. Aromas of petrol, peach, apricot, lemonade and meadow flowers. Clean, crisp and refreshing on entry. Finishes off with a long, tangerine finish. The alcohol and acidity levels are medium, which is not the best contribution for long-term cellaring, but nevertheless, this is still a ridiculously quaffable wine we'd like to bathe in. Straight fire from Clare Valley.

Frederick Stevenson Piñata 2021

$70.00

Even though Barossa is not famous for producing light and crunchy reds, by now you may have figured out that our main man Freddy is not "in the box". A GSM blend, this wine is what the French call 'vin de soif' - fragrant, light, juicy and ridiculously smashable. The whole-bunch fermentation gives it a grippy edge and a bit more character than your everyday house pour.

Bellwether ‘Ant Series’ Tempranillo 2020

$65.00

As a whole this is an enjoyable, heavy-set all-rounder with decent balance and supple, straightforward fruit. Concentrated, quite opaque black-red color with a thinner, slightly purple rim. Plummy dark fruit and a surprisingly sophisticated streak game meat. The tannins are quite soft and mellow, giving the wine quite chewy texture and round, easily approachable character. The finish is supple and long with ripe and sweet flavors of cherry, dark fruit and quite pronounced vanilla.

Rich, rich nose with an abudance of fruit and florals. Same on the palate where nothing is too textural or overdone. Bit of sweetness coming from the lees contact, but this is so well-integrated with the acidity that it makes us shed tears of joy. Top-notch quality from the LP crew.

Topper’s Mountain Petit Manseng 2017

$65.00

This wine is kinda like a Chablis meeting a Clare Valley Riesling for a stroll of fresh air after a night of hammering one too many kamikaze shots. A sign of a healthy friendship. Has an acidity that can cause bruxism after one glass. Luckily, it's backed up by some solid fruit concentration and hefty 13.5% abv. Don't drink food-less, get that roast out, invite some friends over and get down to business.

Topper’s Mountain Gewurztraminer 2016

$65.00

Pale lemon green in the glass. Superbly aromatic, almost like a lychee was smashed into the glass. Some note of lemongrass, white pepper and papaya. Rich and lean at the same time, lots of body, lots of alcohol, but also a good string of acidity to complement. Nice Gewurz, nothing like Alsace or other Aussies that we've tried. Props.
