Grape(s): Pinot Noir
Drinkability: Impress
Fragrant perfume of dried flowers, sour cherry, white pepper, game meat, sweaty herbs. Palate is edgy, all cranberry tang, chalky tannins, glass shard acidity, dried herbs and more of the game meat accompanied by some hazelnut savouriness. Mouth-watering fresh. Zesty. It’s energetic and zippy, great to find this refreshment here. Give it time.
Willaim Downie is, to say the least, a legend in Victoria and a mastermind for Pinot Noir. His wines are leaning more towards minimal intervention, but that doesn’t mean that they are funky or eccentric. Guendulain Farm is William and Rachel’s (William’s wife) own family farm and vineyard located near Yarragon, Victoria, where they live with their three children. This is site offers clones of Pinot Noir that give us Burgundy vibes all the way.
