Medium bodied/weight, blackcurrants, some dried herbs, spice, a touch of menthol. Good level of acidity and grippy tannins on the finish. Superb structure and balance, with a long lingering finish. Lovely wine. Note to self, keep this for at least 10 years.

This celebrated range of wines come from the estate’s original 1893 plantings located on an easterly ridge of the Clare Valley. Unusual for modern Australian reds, these drops are not overripe or sappy. They’re for the long haul and sacrifice some early drinkability and seductive deliciousness for incredible future development – a wise investment.
