This wine is kinda like a Chablis meeting a Clare Valley Riesling for a stroll of fresh air after a night of hammering one too many kamikaze shots. A sign of a healthy friendship. Has an acidity that can cause bruxism after one glass. Luckily, it’s backed up by some solid fruit concentration and hefty 13.5% abv. Don’t drink food-less, get that roast out, invite some friends over and get down to business.
Topper’s Mountain is a very forward-thinking one in terms of experimenting with various grapes outside your classic Shiraz & Chardonnay. And it doesn’t stop at “experimenting”. These guys get some solid results from it. Located in New England, NSW, Topper’s Mountain works on high altitude of 900 metres. Soils are red volcanic aka Krasnozems (as represented on the label). Ten hectares, so much diversity – Tempranillo, Nebbiolo, Tannat, Touriga Nacional and more.
