Deep opaque black purple. Blackberry cloaked in savoury herbs, creamy and salty. Viognier shows here as more like dark and lifted spice. It’s full, full bodied, deep thick and savoury. The big volume of muscular flavour picks up velocity quickly and doesn’t let up. Powerful, intense and complex. A wine that will make you smile from ear to ear.
The Standish Wine Company is helmed by Dan Standish, Australia’s cult winemaker. The winery’s Shiraz is made of grapes from very old vines in the Barossa Valley. Usually available only to The Standish Wine Company’s exclusive mailing list, Burnt Ends Cellars has now access to this winery’s fabulous and famously hard to find wines. These wines are specimens of top end powerful Barossa Shiraz well known for fruit purity and great longevity and definitely rank up there with famous Australian wines from Penfolds and Henschke.
