Deep violet in the glass. Bit of reduction on the first sniff, so you’ll need to pour this straight into a decanter. Opens to aromas of black fruit and some sweet oak spices. Full-on rich body that just punches you straight (in a good way). Everything is in balance here, but could use a few months to mellow down in our opinion. Still takes the cake as one of the best value Shiraz on the market.
Powell & Son is a relatively undiscovered gem in South Australia, being the brain child of a man with an incredible reputation – Dave Powell. Over the years, Dave has worked at and founded iconic winery, Torbreck, juggernaut that took the world by storm in the 1990s. Now partnered with his son Callum, they are crafting exceptional wines from the Barossa and Eden Valley that speak of the place in which they are grown.
