This is from the old Koltz vineyard in Blewitt Springs, and I’m so pleased that Mark Day’s legacy lives on, albeit with a wine made in a much friskier style. 30 year old vines. 53% whole bunch. 18% new oak. 1800 bottles and 60 magnums produced.
Blue and red fruit, dried herb and Koral top notes, quite spicy too with cumin, black pepper, grilled meat and something of a petrichor perfume. It’s medium-bodied, bright and fresh, distinctly spicy and gently sappy, with Nne peppery tannin grip, savoury black olive, but also has blue fruit sweetness too.
