Light ruby in the glass. Somewhat closed on the nose so give it a go in the decanter for about an hour. Open for business even in its youth – notes of raspberry, sour cherry, garam masala, leather and some dried herbs. Tannins are light, acidity is giving the fruit all the spotlight, while the high alcohol gives this its much needed weight without being too heavy. An elegant style of Pinot Noir, just how it’s supposed to be.
Nikau Farm is Dane and Hannah Johns’ of Momento Mori very own estate-grown, handcrafted and bottled wines from their family vineyard in Gippsland, Victoria. These wines have significantly more time, labour and dedication put into them, such that it would not be fair to group them together under the one Momento Mori label.
