Pale gold in colour with a lovely fragrant nose of yellow pear, chamomile, elderflower, blossom and a touch of honey. Rich pear and quince fruit characters, mouth filling texture, long and full flavoured on the palate. A remarkable tangy seaspray saltiness on the finish.
A great match to a warm goats cheese salad, with a touch of quince paste.
A founding winery of the Mornington Peninsula at the very southern tip of the mainland, 1.5 hours south of Melbourne, the Moorooduc Estate has been planted since 1983. Family owned and run by Richard with his wife and daughter, focused on single plot Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Organically dry-farmed, all the wild yeast, no fining or filtration and they’ve always worked with the same three vineyards (their own, their viticulturalist’s and one leased from family friends).
