Pale hazy in the glass. Nice momentary VA on initial nose, quickly clearing out to clean citrus, white plum, peach and jasmine. In the mouth: unmistakably ‘natty’ with a shock of acid driving the bright fruit flavors to oblivion. Some hints of minerality on the finish as well. A taut, fun wine ideal for Sunday’s visit to the beach.
We are thrilled as always to welcome the freshest 2021 vintage of Lucy Margaux wines to our shop! Anton Von Klopper is widely considered to be one of the pioneers of the Australian natural wine movement. When the South African expat first arrived in the Adelaide Hills, his cloudy, no-sulfur wines were met with some derision. Thankfully, he held true to his philosophy, which seems to be a hybrid of Rudolph Steiner’s theory on biodynamics and Goethe’s “Metamorphosis of Plants” but it boils down to this: grapes achieve their purest expression when they are not altered by preservatives or artifical additions of any kind.
