Light golden in the glass. Freshly picked green apple, Williams pear, white flowers & lemon zest complemented by a kiss of high quality French oak. Quintessentially Margaret River high acid with lemon and lots of minerality here. The wine is tight and very focused. Powerful and rich showing where it’s from well. Stunning quality.
LAS Vino (Luck, Art, Science) was created in 2013 by Nic Peterkin, son of Mike Peterkin who planted Pierro’s golden vineyards in 1980. Nic spent his summer holidays working with dad in the vineyards and also did a vintage in Portugal, but his winery wasn’t established as a result of that. Six years of studying biochemistry and travelling around the world got in the way. When he finally returned to Margaret River, he took the unconventional route, producing wild-ferment Chardonnay, a red blend of Portuguese grapes, a whole-bunch Grenache and a biodynamic Cabernet. This was a step up in WA’s winemaking at the time and blasted him up among the greats.
