Koerner Leko Blanc 2021 (Orange)

$69.00

This, their first Savagnin, spent 20 days on skins. Free run juice and pressings were combined,

before ten months in stainless kept it fresh for a funky, spicy and crunchy drop.

A drop of Chardy was added and we’re left with something deeelish.

The Leko Blanc comes from the cool climes of the Adelaide Hills, its origins plain to see. Made with the use of skin contact, where the grape skins sit in the juice, it has beautiful aromas of citrus peel, nuts and quince, while having bracing acidity and a saline edge, and a full mouthfeel and lots of phenolic goodness thanks to the skins.

If you’re unfamiliar with the use of skin contact for white wines, it’s a winemaking technique that you’ll see increasingly from Australian winemakers, as it’s a great way to add complexity, body and different flavours to wine. The Leko Savagnin shows the good things that can happen with skin-contact whites.
