The Côtier label started as an experiment from Mornington Peninsula winemaker Barney Flanders, but with this third set of releases in 2018 they look to be a permanent part of the Garagiste range.
Unlike a classic Riesling wine, the acidity gives the wine direction. Clean citrus and yellow plums on the nose and vibrant, complex and savoury for a Riesling. Made from grapes from Red Hill and 100% whole-bunch fermentation for 23 days, matured for 9 months and bottled unfined with minimal sulphur. Unique in its own sense and delicious.
Garagiste by Barnaby Flanders and Cam Marshall, named in honour of the ‘garage’ vitners of Bordeaux who broke away from the rigid trations, focuses on producing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that reflects the subtleties of the Mornington Peninsula’s sub-regions.
