Meaty, spicy with red capsicum and pepper, blue and purple fruit, and a fair amount of dried herb and flower perfume. It’s medium-bodied, crisp and kind of slatey in feel, juicy dark small berries, fine silty tannin, freshness with distinctly meaty peppery flavour, and a crisp dry and savoury finish of excellent length. Really good Syrah. So much vigour and umami character.
Steve Crawford aka the pirate winemaker brings incredible energy and character to South Australia’s wine scene. Steve’s initial goal was to become a chef, but while working in a garden store he realised he wanted to do something that involved travelling and being outside. His grand dream came true and today, he represents the firm backbone of the Barossa avant-garde movement.
