Origin: Eden Valley
Region: South Australia
Style: Medium-bodied red wine aged in used barrels
A very ripe and bold Montepulciano that is so very like one could expect from the style. Quite a powerhouse, but mainly in a good way. The wine is remarkably fresh, bright and balanced. The overall style is quite straightforward and fruit-driven, lacking some complexity, but we can imagine the wine could gain some additional depth with aging. Very enjoyable – especially for the vintage – and offers lots of pleasure.
Steve Crawford aka the pirate winemaker brings incredible energy and character to South Australia’s wine scene. Steve’s initial goal was to become a chef, but while working in a garden store he realised he wanted to do something that involved travelling and being outside. His grand dream came true and today, he represents the firm backbone of the Barossa avant-garde movement.
