Always good, the Primitivo here shining full on. Lots of fruit-forward character accompanied by a bit of spice in the background. The palate is showing high acid with a brush of ripe tannins. Approachable now, but will go strong for 2-3 more years if you decide to lay it down in your cellar. You have to love how Amato makes these young wines drinkable straight off the bat, something that’s hard to find with old school winemakers nowadays.
Amato Vino was one of the first wineries we acquired through Burnt Ends Cellars and we’re immensely proud that their exposure has managed to grow tremendously over the years. Brad & Sharon are a super-chill duo making wine from two of Australia’s top regions – Margaret River and Riverland. WA is reserved for their classic styles of Chardonnay and Cab Sauv, while South Australia’s Riverland is where the lo-fi magic happens. Single vineyards, handpicks, natural ferments. Clay amphora for fermentation and maturation. All the wild stuff with grapes such as Savagnin, Chenin Blanc and Primitivo.
