Delinquente Screaming Betty 2021

$50.00

Pale lemon green in the glass, almost water-like. Smells exactly like those everyday Vermentinos you get in Italy for peanuts - white flowers, green apple, pear. Nothing complex and not meant to be. Very low alcohol, medium acid, medium finish. Interesting and drinkable, poolside wine.

Lethbridge Hugo George 2006

$190.00

A simply stunning Chardonnay influenced by white Burgundy. Textbook example of how good Geelong Chardonnay ages. There are no signs of decline whatsoever, but instead the wine has reached its apogee of stunning richness, complexity and opulence. It feels relatively big and quite round, yet it doesn't come across as heavy nor flabby because of its balanced acidity and bright, almost trebly minerality, balancing the weight and richness wonderfully. So very lovely. Tremendous value at this price.

S.C. Pannell ‘Protero’ Nebbiolo 2019

$65.00

This is a really lovely wine to drink. Step right up. Cherry-berry flavours with musk and sweet spice around the edges. Has flow, has acid, has fruit and has lift. Shape is good too. Full-on weight, in a good way. No hesitation.

Dormilona Tinto 2021

$75.00

This is totally different from the classic South Australian style of Shiraz/Syrah. Made to mirror the cool sites of the Rhone Valley, this Syrah is marked by wonderful spice and black pepper together with fresh dark plum and a hint of blackberry. Alcohol holds well, complementing the acidity and brush of tannins that are present. Pure expression of the grape, lovely drink.

Amato Vino ‘Mantra’ Chardonnay 2020

$79.00

Really good Chardonnay, even when drunk slightly warm (happens sometimes, we have to admit it). Some solid complexity coming through with ripe tropical & stone fruit followed by barrel fermented tones of brioche, vanilla and butter. Zippy acidity highlighting the fruit, preventing it from being overripe & heavy. Big alcohol as well, but balanced. Long finish.

Bass Phillip ‘Estate’ Chardonnay 2019

$129.00

Pours lemon yellow in the glass. Quite subtle on the nose, but shows some layers to it - lemon, lime, green apple, lemongrass and brioche. The palate is balanced, with medium depth. A nice, refreshing Chardonnay that is judiciously dosed with oak.

Bellwether Chardonnay 2016

$98.00

This vintage displayed a totally different universe compared to 2015. Pronounced and attractive nose with slightly sweet and nuanced aromas of yellow fruit, some marzipan and crème à la vanille, a little bit of apple jam and a touch of crème brûlée. This is a wine you'd eat for breakfast, just from the smell of it. Bone-dry, yet so rich, offering spectacular mouth-watering acidity. Superb balance. A beast for the price.

Domaine Simha Fleur Sauvage 2019

$75.00

A remarkably well-made, pure and nuanced orange wine that is very savory and simply dead-serious in style. Definitely a crowd-pleaser note to the nose, but offers so much precision on the palate. Chardonnay seems to lend this wine a kind of richness and body while Riesling comes in with the zippiness. The quality here is obviously top-notch and while there's certain rustic roughness around the edges, the wine is wonderfully pure and precise from the beginning to the end, not showing any excessive funk or such.

Domaine Simha ‘Rao’ Chardonnay 2019

$139.00

Hand-picked Chardonnay fruit from 40-year-old vines, whole bunch pressing, 12 months on lees. Complex character just breaking the ice. Lean, detailed and thought-provoking. Tons of flair. There’s a lot to like here. Matchsticks, yellow apple, peach, ginger, toast and assorted spices. Chardonnay to the nines. Excellent.

Borachio Flat Out 2020

$69.00

Light, fresh aromatic reddish wine. Sour scents and flavours, soupy, slick texture with floral notes and bubblegummy flavour and texture to finish. It’s got some nice, perky fruit character, a good deal of lift & texture through front and mid palate. Nice drop, drink chilled!

South by Southwest Chardonnay 2020

$72.00

The inspiration for this wine is easy. Chardonnay loves Margaret River, and Margaret River loves Chardonnay. In a glass the wine presents with a vibrant straw tinged yellow. Lifted intense varietal characteristics of stone fruit with a hint of lemon, and complimented by nutty characters. The palate expresses a flinty liveliness of stone fruit, with well-balanced natural acidity and complexity.
